QUOTE I BE NODDLE’N

“It is impossible to get better and look good at the same time. Give yourself permission to be a beginner.”

— Julia Cameron, The Artist’s Way

Pondering this.

Chatting to a great friend recently & it’s interesting moving through life thinking that there’s always going to be things that I’m a beginner at. There are simply…

TOO

MANY

AMAZING

Things to do in this lifetime.

See, I could choose not to continue life with a beginners mind-set, stick to my guns with a “i’m good at ‘em, why change” kinda attitude. AND, that simply doesn’t do it for me, not anymore anyway.

I’m not going to get to the bottom of it here but know I’m now trying to always be flexing 💪 the muscle of being a beginner at something; giving myself permission to begin again and again as a beginner.

Currently been playing with film cameras, re-learning how to ride a mountain bike, venturing into entrepreneurship, however, don’t feel as much of a beginner anymore so… what’s next?

LASCLAY

Focusing on creating eco-friendly, vegan products insulated with milkweed, a sustainable and biodegradable material. Their mission supports environmental sustainability, wildlife conservation (especially for monarch butterflies), and ethical manufacturing. By promoting milkweed farming and producing products locally in Canada, they help reduce environmental impact while supporting the local economy and the monarch butterfly population. Lasclay aligns with the growing consumer demand for ethical and environmentally-conscious products.

They’re seemingly early days in their development, have a peek, go support at: Lasclay.com

You have likely caught a strong whift of textile shamanism in me if you’ve ever muttered the word merino within ear-shot. By christ I thought it was a savior, and it honestly was for a while (another story)… now I simply enjoy the creative ways in which others weave fabrics of our environment into products that not only serve a purpose and can be net positive across social, ecological, and environmental landscapes.

Want more on the Monarch’s brilliance told through a paragliders adventure of a lifetime, I got you.

HAPPILY EVER AFTER... OR?

The Atlantic article takes a fresh look at the classic idea of "happily ever after," saying it’s time to let go of the fairy tale endings we were taught to want. Why? Because long-term happiness in relationships isn't about rigid roles or outdated norms. It's about rethinking what partnership looks like, exploring alternative structures, and focusing on connection, personal fulfillment, and what truly makes two people tick. Traditions? They evolve. It’s all about creating something real that works for you.

The Atlantic article (Masters of Love) is paywalled & this gives an ok summary:
The Secret to Love is Just Kindness.

An aforementioned friend an I talk about the ingredients of relationships often, perhaps even every Tuesday at a certain time haha. We talk with the vision that all relationships are working towards being a dream team, fuelled by communication, communicate effectively; goals, reach goals together; trust, build record of trust and honesty; and, joy, bring joy to each others lives.

We’ve created definitions and a rubric if you’re a more quantitatively minded-wonderful being. Hit me up and I’ll shoot them over to you.

Totoganashi (Documentary)

Get ready to get salty on this one as patagonia films follows pro surfer Yusei Ikariyama as he fights to protect the fragile coastline of Japan's Amami Ōshima island. Once a rebellious surfer, Yusei transforms into an advocate for environmental preservation, founding a nonprofit to safeguard the island's ecosystems. The film showcases his efforts to unite his community around a common cause—saving their shared home from industrial threats, guided by the belief that "a struggle bleeds for three generations."

This was a mid-week ‘why the fugg do I live inland’ bit of inspiration and honestly brought up the fact that I still haven’t created the opportunity to immerse myself in Japanese culture.

Be joyous, love yourself, and keep nurturing your dreams,

Your one and only,

Marlon 🙃
